INTRODUCTION
This page gives some basic information about visas and immigration rules
for the UK. Rules change frequently: please refer to the official websites
and check the latest requirements before coming to the UK or before going
to an immigration office in Britain. Some recent changes are shown in red.
VISA EXTENSIONS :-
This guide briefly explains how to extend your stay in the UK as an international
student. If you are not a European Economic Area (or Swiss) national you
will have a stamp or visa in your passport stating when your permission
to stay in the UK expires. If you wish to stay in the UK beyond this date
you will need to ‘extend your visa’. This guide gives general information
but does not cover every situation or question you may have, further information
is available from Loughborough Students Advice (LSA).
The minimum Home Office application fee for students is now £250, depending
on your circumstances you may be able to avoid the charge if you use the
‘Entry Clearance Correction Scheme’ or you are leaving the UK and can
obtain a new entry clearance before you return or a short extension from
an immigration officer on arrival.
