You can also check your ETA status, if you applied through this site, by clicking on the Check your ETA button.

The ETA is issued electronically by a computer system operated for the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) of Australia.

When an application for an ETA is submitted through this site, all you need to do is enter the details from your passport and your credit card information. The application is processed immediately. Approved applications are electronically recorded on Australian Government systems.

When you arrive at an airport for check-in on a flight to Australia, the airline check-in staff can electronically confirm that you have authority to board the flight to Australia.

The Internet ETA is currently available for:

Tourists: multiple visits with a maximum stay of three months per visit, and
Short Stay Business travellers: multiple business visits with a maximum stay of three months per visit.
In both cases the visa has a 12 month validity from date of the grant of the ETA or to the expiry date of your passport, whichever is the earlier.

You may enter Australia up until the last day of the validity of the ETA and may then stay in Australia for up to three months.

The ETAs available on this site are not for:
stays longer than three (3) months,
those intending to stay permanently in Australia,
those seeking to work in Australia, or
students.

Travelling withFamily
All family members must have a visa or ETA to travel to Australia.

The Internet ETA system can be used to apply for an Internet ETA for members of your family travelling with you provided they also fall within the ETA eligibility criteria.

Even if your children travel on your passport they will need ETAs. When you apply, you will need to enter the passport details exactly as for your own passport, replacing the name, date of birth, sex and country of birth with your children's details as they appear in your passport.

Internet ETA Documentation
To apply for an Internet ETA you will need:
A current, valid passport for each traveller, and
A valid credit card (American Express, Diners Club, JCB, Mastercard or Visa).

The ETA Process
Your application will be processed while you are on-line. You will be informed of the result of your application before leaving the Internet ETA system.

Checking the ETA issued through this site
As part of the application/approval process, you will be issued with a reference number. This number applies only to ETAs issued through this site. That is, if you have been issued an ETA through a DIMIA office, by a travel agent or an airline office, you will not be able to use this site to check the ETA.

Where you want to check an ETA issued using this site, you will need the reference number. You will be given the option to print out the confirmation screen. This is for your records only. The print out has no official status and will not be accepted by either airline staff or border protection authorities in Australia.

Our aim is to do all we can to protect your privacy. No other person will be provided with your reference number.

Visitor ETA

If you are travelling for tourism or to visit friends or relatives, and wish to stay for up to three months on each visit within a twelve month period, you should apply for the Visitor/Tourist ETA.

Short Validity Business ETA

If you are travelling on business, you may apply for the Short Validity Business ETA. It entitles the holder to make multiple visits within 12 months and permits a stay of up to 3 months on each visit.

Fees
All applications processed through this site are subject to a Service Charge of AUS$20.00. Payment is by credit card only. The cards accepted by this site are American Express, Diners Club, JCB, Mastercard and Visa.

There will be an entry on your credit card statement against iVisa Services for AUS$20.00 for each ETA application processed by this site.

The Service Charge is payable upon submission of validated application data and pressing the 'Submit' button.

Payment of the charge does not guarantee that the application will be successful. The Service Charge is applied to recover the cost of running this service. As successful and unsuccessful applications use system resources, the charge is non-refundable.
