Point Reyes National Seashore

  Point Reyes National Seashore :-
Point Reyes National Seashore contains unique elements of biological and historical interest in a spectacularly scenic panorama of thunderous ocean breakers, open grasslands, bushy hillsides and forested ridges. Native land mammals number about 37 species and marine mammals augment this total by another dozen species. The biological diversity stems from a favorable location in the middle of California and the natural occurrence of many distinct habitats. Nearly 20% of the State's flowering plant species are represented on the peninsula and over 45% of the bird species in North America have been sighted. The Point Reyes National Seashore was established by President John F. Kennedy on September 13, 1962.

ACCESSIBILITY
All of Point Reyes National Seashore's Visitor Centers are accessible. Point Reyes also has numerous accessible paths to various points of interest.

Directions from Petaluma:

From Highway 101 take the Washington Street exit.
Go west on Washington Street until Petaluma Blvd.
Turn left, proceed to D Street and turn right (D Street will become the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road).
Follow the Pt. Reyes-Petaluma road into the town of Point Reyes Station.
Turn left (south) on to Highway 1.
Go through the town and continue approximately 3 miles (if you get to a flashing red light, you've gone approximately 100 yards too far).
Turn right at Bear Valley Road.
In less than 1/2 mile there will be a big red barn and a sign for Seashore information.
Turn left past the red barn and proceed to the Bear Valley Visitor Center, the main park contact station.
