  Ellis Island National Monument :-

Park Hours - Ellis Island: 8:30am - 6:15pm. Last ferry departs the island at: 6:30pm.
The park is open daily except Dec. 25th. There is no entrance fee to Ellis Island.
Ellis Island was incorporated as part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument on May 11, 1965. Between 1892 and 1954, approximately 12 million steerage and third class steamship passengers, who entered the United States through the port of New York, were legally and medically inspected at Ellis Island. Reopened on September 10, 1990 after a massive restoration, the Main Building on Ellis Island is now a museum dedicated to the history of immigration and the important role this island claimed during the mass migration of humanity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

ACCESSIBILITY
The exhibits, theatres, restrooms, gift shop, cafeteria and island grounds on Ellis Island are accessible. Closed-captioning is available for the 30-minute documentary film, "Island of Hope, Island of Tears" and the Inspection exhibit video in 2-West. A limited number of wheelchairs are available at both Liberty and Ellis Islands on a first-come, first-served basis. To inquire about availability, contact park staff at the Information Desk located in the Main Building at Ellis Island.

FOR KIDS
Kids can learn about our government and how it impacts all of our lives.

Junior Ranger Program
This self-guided program gives children the opportunity to earn a Junior Park Ranger Badge while learning about Ellis Island and our nation's heritage. This activity booklet will take you through the historic Immigration Station where children will learn the importance of protecting and preserving this National Monument. The booklet takes about 1 hour to complete and is available here or free at the Ellis Island Information Desk. This program is recommended for kids ages 7-12. Children can ask Park Rangers how they can help preserve America's heritage. This is an on-site program only and cannot be completed electronically or by mail.
