Cowpens National Battlefield

  Cowpens National Battlefield :-

Cowpens National Battlefield commemorates a decisive battle that helped turn the tide of war in the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution. On this field on January 17, 1781, Daniel Morgan led his army of tough Continentals, militia, and cavalry to a brilliant victory over Banastre Tarleton's force of British regulars. The battle at the "Cow Pens," one of only a few successful double envelopments in history, is recognized by historians as one of the most important of the American Revolution.

ACCESSIBILITY :-

Mobility impaired Each of the major sites in the park is wheelchair accessible, and a wheelchair is available at the Visitor Center. Handicapped parking spaces are located immediately in front of the Visitor Center, picnic area, Scruggs House, and each of the battlefield overlooks. Restrooms are handicapped accessible.
Hearing impaired The audio-visual program, "Daybreak at the Cowpens," is closed-captioned and has an assistive listening device available. The fiber-optic map program has an assistive listening device available and has an LED text.

Education Programs :-

Education has been one of the guiding principles of the National Park Service since its creation in 1916. Helping visitors understand the history and stories of each unique area is still a vital function of the NPS (National Park Service.) During the 1960s, an emphasis on Environmental Education was begun and through this effort, curriculum materials and programs were instituted for that purpose. During the Bicentennial era, more educational programs were written to focus on our nation’s history.
