  Visa Information

Family

An American citizen may petition for immigrant visas for his or her spouse, parents, children, and siblings. A permanent resident alien may petition for immigrant visas for his or her spouse and unmarried children. The American citizen or permanent resident alien initiating the process is called petitioner. The foreign applicant receiving the visa is called the beneficiary. Both the Petitioner and the beneficiary must be residing in Ireland. Proof of residence in Ireland is required for all petitioners. A petitioner residing outside Ireland should file Form I-130 on behalf of an alien relative at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office which has jurisdiction over the petitioner's residence in the United States.

Fees

Please note that as of June 20, 2005, the nonimmigrant visa application fee is €85.00.

This reflects a change in the consular rate of exchange between the U.S. Dollar and the Euro, which is set by the Department of State.

Applicants are required to pay the fee in order for the application to be processed. Payment must be made by a Euro bank draft or Irish Postal Order made payable to "US Embassy". The bank draft or Irish Postal Order must be presented to the cashier at the Embassy on the day of your appointment. Alternatively, a U.S. bank draft for U.S. $100.00 would be acceptable.

Please note that we cannot accept payment by cash or personal cheque.

Each individual must pay the fee even if he or she is traveling with others on the same passport. The fee is non-refundable whether or not the visa is ultimately issued or refused.

Please Note: As of March 8, 2005, blanket L-1 visa applicants are required to pay a $500.00 Fraud Prevention and Detection Fee. The fee is paid at the time of the visa interview by the principal applicant only and in adddition to the nonimmigrant visa application fee.
