In order to offer better service to visa applicants and in an effort
to decrease the time applicants have to wait for their visa, the U.S.
Embassy in Dublin, Ireland has implemented the following changes:
1. Applicants can call the following numbers and speak with an operator
for visa information. Applicants may also view the Non-Immigrant and Immigrant
visa portions of this website for visa information free of charge:
Student F and M Visas
The U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act provides two nonimmigrant visa
categories for persons wishing to study in the United States. Students
wishing to attend a university or other academic institution in the United
States require a student (F-1) visa; students wishing to attend a vocational
or non-academic institution require an M-1 visa. Holders of visitor (B-2)
visas and those who have entered the United States visa free under the
Visa Waiver Program are prohibited from entering into full-time study.
