VISITOR VISA (B1/B2)
Trips for Business or Pleasure
Conditions:
United States immigration law states that consular officers must assume
that every applicant for a visa intends to stay permanently in the USA.
To qualify as a temporary visitor to the U.S., an applicant must:
be traveling to the United States purely for business or pleasure;
be intending to stay in the USA for a certain, limited period;
have a permanent residence outside the U.S. and other binding ties that
assure their departure from the U.S. after their temporary stay; and
sufficient funds to cover all expenses in the United States or convincing
documents to show how those expenses will be met by another person.
Visitors with a visitor visa are not permitted to work during their stay
in the USA, whether they are being paid or not. In addition, visitors
are not allowed to enroll in a full course of study or take care of children
as au-pairs.
TRANSIT VISA (C1)
Effective at 11:00 a.m., Saturday August 2, 2003, the programs known
as the Transit Without Visa Program (TWOV) and the International-to-International
Transit Program (ITI) were suspended. This action does not affect U.S.
citizens or citizens from visa waiver countries. Travelers who qualify
for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) may continue to enter and then transit
under the VWP.
Non-visa waiver citizens may no longer travel under the Transit Without
Visa Program. They must apply for a visa to transit the U.S. Hungarian
citizens need to have a visa to transit the U.S.
STUDENT VISA (F)
Visa for Academic Studies or Language Courses
F and M applicants do not need an appointment. They may come to the Embassy
Monday - Thursday between 9:00 and 11:00 am for an appointment free interview.
F and M applicants wishing to take advantage of this must bring their
I-20 and must have an Electronic Visa Application Form.
All Hungarian citizens who wish to study in the USA must apply for a
student visa.
Exception: If you are enrolled in short-term language courses, you might
qualify for a visitor visa. Applicants should consult with the school
to find out if the program requires a student visa.
Study in the U.S.

An applicant for a student visa must be accepted at a school or university
in the U.S. The proof of the acceptance is Form I-20. Form I-20 is issued
